What are the signs of a worn clutch?
The clutch pedal is supposed to be easy to operate. If it becomes hard or needs to be depressed more than usual, the clutch is most likely worn.
But the most obvious sign of advanced wear of the clutch is undoubtedly that it slips when starting the car, that is to say that it runs in a vacuum : the engine increases in revs then that the vehicle does not move.

Is it obligatory to change the flywheel at the same time as the clutch kit?
It is recommended to change both the flywheel and clutch kit , regardless of which part is defective. This is explained by the joint wear of the parts. Overall, we advise you to replace the gearbox oil, clutch kit and clutch release bearing , as well as the flywheel at the same time .
How much does a clutch replacement cost?
Unfortunately, changing your clutch is one of the most expensive interventions in your car maintenance. In fact, this intervention requires several parts which have a certain cost. Count on average between 200 and 300 euros of parts.
Also note that this intervention is complex and time-consuming: it requires the dismantling of your gearbox as well as the dismantling of your engine.
It will cost between 500 and 800 euros to change your clutch , parts and labor included. This price can vary a lot depending on your vehicle, even almost doubling if you also need to change your flywheel .
Even if it has a good lifespan, the clutch must be changed when it is worn and signs of fatigue appear. In addition to the discomfort, it is safety that should push you to go to a garage to change the clutch or, at least, have the condition of the clutch checked.
