5 Ways Students Can Focus 100% On Studying For Exams In College

As a college student with exams to write, it is sometimes difficult for you to focus on studying for your exams, even if you fully understand how important it can be.

From statistics recorded by several universities in the USA, it has been observed that students focus less on education and studying in this modern age than 40 years ago when the internet has not become a thing.

Today, students focus on watching videos on social media, creating videos on TikTok, and joining TikTok trends when they know they must focus more on their studies to get good grades.

Suppose you have found yourself in a situation and are looking for a way to get out of it. In that case, it is often natural for you to think that locking your phone out will solve the problem when you have not really worked on yourself and the addiction you have towards your smartphone.

From studies that were recently conducted, it has been determined that about 32% of college students are addicted to their smartphones. In comparison, about 65% have said they feel extremely anxious when they do not have a smartphone with them.

From this study, it was learned that about 33% said they can’t have a good sleep when they are not on their phones, which can be interpreted as excessively using smartphones which is another level of addiction.

This is just the first angle of how students focus on other things that deprive them of preparing very well for their exams.

Another angle is that most of these students love going to parties at night, a period they should use to rest or go through their books to revise what they have learned for the day.

I was once a college student, and I  understand how hard it can be sometimes to mainly focus on studies when you can equally go to part, join TikTok trends, and spend time swatching social media videos.

You can focus 100% on studying for exams to pass a good grade. You can’t achieve 100% focus on studying rather, if you apply some principles, you can spend the majority of your time studying for your exams.

Here I will show you some practical steps you can take in order to achieve 100% focus on studying for exams and also boost your memory capacity to retain more information.

1. Have a Detailed TimeTable

Our brain is not something mysterious that we can not trick to do the things that will bring us good things, it needs to be controlled, and we can do that by giving it a direction on what to do at every given moment.

Have you ever wondered how your brain knows that once your alarm sounds, it must have clocked at 6 in the morning? It is because you have wired it to be so, and at a point, you will be waking by 6 without having to use any alarm. That is how wonderful the human brain is and how much potential it holds to go toward the direction we have commanded it to go.

Having a timetable is very important; it doesn’t just help you overcome the need to be on your phone but helps you focus more on things that are very important which is your college education in these cases.

Timetable helped me overcome so many things that were stopping me from focusing 100% on my academics and passing my exams.

I will recommend you carefully follow the timetable have made below so that you can be able to focus on things that matter.

  • 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Study Session 1
  • 5:00 PM – 5:45 PM: Break 1
  • 5:45 PM – 6:45 PM: Study Session 2
  • 6:45 PM – 7:30 PM: Break 2
  • 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM: Study Session 3
  • 8:30 PM – 9:15 PM: Break 3
  • 9:15 PM – 10:15 PM: Study Session 4

2. Make Friends With  Serious Individuals

Friends can lift you up or bring you down. In college, you will meet many types of students, and some come to study, some to make friends and connections, some just love the feeling of being called a college student, while some know that the place they have is a place of study and they won’t be their forever.

As a student, you should know the reason while you are in college and go after it. You do not want to be stuck in another man’s dream while yours is left vacant.

Make friends with those who are serious in college, and you should not go after those who have a different agenda than you in any way. It won’t only bring set back but will also make you feel you do not have any purpose in college.

3. Use Your Smartphone as a Positive Tool

In college, I live very far from school, and I have to travel about 3 hours to get to school now the problem is that many times when I come to class, the lecturer or professor has already started his or her classes, and most times, rounding up.

Since I knew I had this problem, I decided to look for a solution outside my lectures, which was where came to learn about the usefulness of YouTube and Google.

I started using YouTube and searching on Google to be able to solve problems and learn what the lecturer lectured in class.

Instead of spending time on my phone watching some trending channels, I spend time watching some tutorials on YouTube.

The smartphone in your hands is a great tool so many have used to better their lives and you can be part of them. You just need a shift in routing, and you see how well you can focus on your studies in order to prepare 100% for your exams.

4. Get Enough Sleep Everyday

College students underestimate good sleep due to they feel it is important for improvement, some study without sleeping while others do not study and still do not get good sleep.

You need to make sleep your priority and make sure you are getting good sleep every day so your brain can function very well while you study.

You need to sleep for at least 6 to 8 hours every day to make your brain sharpen and active during the day so that you grab as much knowledge as possible.

5. Stay Focus In What Ever You Do

So many college student who want to focus 100% on studying do not know how to stay focus and study for their exam. Some will study for 10 minutes and play for 3 hours which is very wrong. You need to balance your balance and play time so that you do not overdo dothe other.

Staying focused can help you study effectively, remove any distractions from your site, and make sure you are always reminding yourself of the reason you do the things you do.
